Hurld Wyman Elementary School Featured In 2019 Architectural Portfolio Honoring Education Design Excellence

December 19, 2019 (Boston, Massachusetts) — DiNisco Design announces that Hurld Wyman Elementary School, Woburn, Massachusetts has been selected for publication in the American School & University® 2019 Architectural Portfolio. The project is featured in the November/December 2019 edition of the magazine and also online at www.SchoolDesigns.com. An annual competition honoring education design excellence, the Architectural Portfolio spotlights projects representing today’s most effective learning environments. The Hurld Wyman School resulted from consolidating two outdated smaller schools into one new elementary school as part of the city’s educational masterplan. The project team collaborated with multiple agencies and committees to evaluate four.

Fly-over of Amesbury Elementary School Presented At Community Forum

During the fifth Community Forum for the Amesbury Elementary School project on March 25, 2019 the most recent schematic design for the proposed school was presented to the public. The approximately 98,000 SF building is intended to have a clear sense of arrival, be organized about a central core that connects the community use spaces and academic spaces, and feature transparency that will more easily allow the students to be connected to the nature that will surround them. New Maria Hastings Elementary School Gets “Topped Off”

DiNisco Design celebrated the topping off of the new Maria Hastings Elementary School in Lexington. The placement of the final structural steel beam indicates the end of that phase of the project. An enthusiastic crowd of students, parents, and community members was in attendance to participate in the ceremony. Construction is scheduled to continue into early 2020. Hurld Wyman Elementary School Dedicated

Although the weather didn’t cooperate as hoped, on Monday, November 19th the new Hurld Wyman Elementary School at 39 Wyman Street in Woburn was dedicated with a large and enthusiastic audience of students, staff, and community members present in the new school’s cafetorium. The 71,000 SF elementary school consolidated two undersized schools into one that is 71,000 SF and serves 410 students in grades K–5. It features nearly two dozen classrooms, art and music spaces, a 6,000 SF gymnasium, library, and cafetorium, while incorporating high-efficiency lighting, water, and energy systems. Higgins Middle School Awarded Prestigious LEED® Silver Green Building Certification

Higgins Middle School Dedication

On Saturday September 17th, Higgins Middle School in Peabody, Massachusetts, was officially dedicated. Many dignitaries and people from the town attended the ceremony to get their first chance to view the new school building, the largest middle school in Massachusetts. The project required almost two years to construct, and was carried out in conjunction with the Massachusetts School Building Authority (MSBA).

Douglas Elementary School Awarded Prestigious LEED® Silver Green Building Certification

The LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) rating system, developed by the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC), is a prominent program for buildings that are designed, constructed, and operated for improved environmental and human health performance. The City of Douglas’ active participation in the design process demonstrates its strong commitment to environmental sustainability. The new 83,000 SF school successfully maximized north/south orientation of the classrooms. This afforded the most usable and controllable natural daylighting of these spaces, which is beneficial.
