The aptly named High Rock sits on a steeply sloping site with ledge at the top and wetlands below, surrounded by small residences with numerous pedestrian paths intertwining through woods, playfields, and neighborhoods.
Due to the extensive ledge, wetlands, extreme topography, and unsuitable soils, every aspect of the site had a significant impact on the project’s cost and construction schedule.
High Rock’s unique design features maximized classrooms and expanded core facilities. The unique “in-fill” design overcomes site constraints and flexible programming improves circulation and creates a cohesive educational school plan. Despite a steeply sloping site with extreme ledge and wetlands, the completed building transitions seamlessly between renovated space and new construction.
